REVIEW: The Female Hustler (2021)

So I finally watched The Female Hustler and although it was a good film with a good plot, there were some continuity issues with the subplots 😩

Let’s start with the main character Princess. I loved seeing Princess go from rags to riches, but it seemed to happen very quickly without much depth. They seemed to introduce a little bit of her background, but didn't use it as a plot device to build her character up in a realistic way. I felt like the writing could have been a little stronger in regards to the subplot of her best friend needing to get away from her pimp. A plot hole I noticed was that it was never addressed that her best friend was sleeping with her brother! 

I also felt like they dropped the ball with the death of her brother Dae Dae.  In the previous scene we see her boss Omar (played by writer/director Dom Campbell) putting a hit on her, then the immediate next scene we see her looking out the window and hearing gunshots, then BOOM, she's crying holding her brother! Then it turns out that her best friend and pimp were behind the killing?! This didn't make any sense and was not realistic, especially when they gave us no indication that her best friend's pimp even had beef with her brother. Maybe that subplot was a filer for time, but honestly it should've been scrapped from the story all together. Why introduce us to these characters only to quickly discard them without so much of an explanation as to why this is happening. Nonetheless, the main plot had all the suspense to carry the movie along to where I didn't get bored.


Leaving the ending open the way they did was very smart because, although this movie had issues with continuity, I do feel like they could go in a completely different direction and have the opportunity tell a really good story with a fresh start. A sequel was actually released on Tubi TV this year, so I'm excited to see what obstacles Princess has to overcome with her new success!

Overall I’d give this movie 7/10


After a deep analysis I had questions that didn’t receive answers, but nonetheless it was a fun time and I look forward to watching the sequel very soon❤️ The Female Hustler can be watched on Tubi TV, and is expected to expand to more streaming platforms soon!

REVIEW-Monogamish(2023)

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!! I’m so excited for all the new movies that are to come this year. With that being said, I wanted to let you all know about the very first independent film I watched on Tubi called Monogamish. Synopsis: Zane a successful real-estate broker, is asked by her husband if they could see other people and help their marriage succeed. What I liked:  As expected the production quality was good, acting was a little stale at times, but the cast exceeded my overall expectations. I loved the cinematography of this film, especially the aerial shots of the city. This film was directed and written by Marquand Ragland. Monogamish was my introduction to this North Carolina based director, and I must say he did a good job. Monogamish was a breath of fresh air as my first review of the year. RECAP-BMF(Ep.1)

Season 2 of BMF is back on our tv screens, and immediately we are back into the bs. We start the episode off seeing Meech in Las Vegas, and while he’s there he sees all the top players in drug game. He plans on bringing back some keys with him to Detroit but not before he notices drug dogs at the airport. Meech being the quick thinker that he is he decides to take a bus instead. Back in Detroit Terry is still out the drug game but he has his eyes on a different prize. With his baby mom seemingly out the picture he tries to holler at a woman name Keisha, played by LaLa Anthony. Now, side note, this may be a hot take but I’m just tired of seeing LaLa on my TV screen. I feel like that role could’ve gone to a fresh new upcoming actress, but I digress 🤷🏾‍♀️ Anywho, we see throughout this episode that meech and Terry are not exactly speaking, not that there any beef but they just aren’t seeing eye to Terry’s one eye🤣🤣sorry I couldn’t help myself🤣 Terry is trying to make an honest living...
