 Ok, so it's officially been 24 hours since I've watched the remake of House Party. Immediately leaving the theater, I was smiling from ear to ear with satisfaction. I was smiling mostly because my 90s inner kid was full.  This film paid homage to the original House Party in a way that was very tasteful without trying too hard. Lots of people will have their opinions about this film and hold it directly up to the original, but I don't think that's necessary because House Party 2023 isn't trying to take the place of the original, it's just telling a similar story about friendship and bad decisions that work out in the end. This film was funny without trying to be funny, and I could tell by the bloopers shown at the end, that the cast had a great time filming. So when I initially heard about a remake of the 1990 classic House Party, I immediately dismissed it.  Up until last week I still wasn’t sold, but after watching the trailer and doing a bit of research, I can say that I’m willing to give it a watch and go into it with an open mind. House Party starts Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole. It’s directed by Calmatic and written by Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori.  Here are some reasons why I think this film may stand a chance to be good. 1. It has an ensemble cast and crew behind the scenes 2. New Line Cinema and Lebron James’ Springhill Productions are behind this film  3. It’s rated R 4.
